At The Heritage School, a lot of emphasis is laid on the complete development of the body, mind and spirit. Students are exposed to classical dance forms from an early age. Bharatnatyam, an ancient form of 'Natya Yoga' is taught from an early age. This genre of dance has evolved over the years demonstrating extremely graceful movements, where Bhava (emotion), Raga (music), Taal (Rhythm) and Natya (drama) combine to create an artistic rhapsody.
Kathak, the classical dance form of North India, help children master the art of blending rhythm with movement, expression and footwork. It helps to build concentration and focus better. Students of Heritage are trained in the authentic Lucknow Gharana style of the dance form .

Silence often speaks louder than words. Mime is a specialized theatrical form of expression and through its silent communion, students are able to bring out their finer emotions. This medium is used effectively for purposes of education in order to make the students sensitive about the environment and society around them. Students learn to deal with themes that depict various social issues. Stilt walking and rope climbing are also taught in the mime classes to bring about body flexibility.

Yoga classes are conducted at different levels. It helps to bring about equilibrium of the mind and increase the concentration level. Daily exercises help to relieve the stress that students often feel while keeping pace with the demands of a competitive environment.


Clay Modelling is taught from the Pre-primary to the Secondary level and is a perennial favourite of the children. The tactile, hands-on nature of this activity makes it engrossing for all age groups and also offers scope for a high degree of creativity. Students enjoy working on the Potter’s wheel. There is also provision for an electric furnace where firing of the artifacts is done.
Textile Weaving is an activity where children learn to work on the loom. Using various colourful strands of thread, they weave fabrics to create cloth for upholstery, mats and bags. They are also taught dyeing and printing techniques like batik, tie & dye and block prints.


Under Recycling, students learn to convert trash to treasure. With the help of used paper-cups, ice-cream sticks, bottles and old newspaper, exquisite craft and utility items are made. Students are thus made conscious of the concept of ‘reduce, reuse and recycle,’ from an early age.
Dramatics is a very popular activity amongst the students. It helps to develop their communication skills. Here students not only learn the nuances of acting, but also the techniques of script writing, direction, set, sound and lights. Students showcase their art in various inter-school festivals, drama competitions and street plays.


Vocal Music is taught under the guidance of experts. Children learn to appreciate the various ragas that comprise the rich heritage of Indian Classical Music.
Tabla or the Indian drum helps the children to develop a sense of rhythm and play with numbers or beats (taal). Through an extensive use of the fingers and palms in various configurations, they learn to create a wide variety of different sounds, reflected in the mnemonic syllables or bols.


Bengal Woodcraft is a fast fading art form. Students get an opportunity to learn this activity from a village craftsman of Burdwan. The items that they learn to make are masks, human and animal figures which are a reflection of the myriad colours of their imagination. .
Lacwork is a folk art of Santiniketan. Students learn to make small figurines of clay and burn them on charcoal fire. Then they apply a coat of coloured molten lac on these. This is an extremely colourful art form and students enjoy working with these.


Training in stringed Instruments like Violin, Sitar and Sarod is imparted to students under the guidance of renowned maestro. The genre is Eastern Classical.
Creative Writing sessions help to make children better writers. Students are initiated to write stories, which are subsequently sent to publishers for publication. Presently, some of the Secondary school students are working on an anthology to recount their memorable moments in school. Besides, students are also sent on literary excursions and collaborations.


Western Music is taught under the guidance of professionals. Students learn to play the electric guitar, bass guitar, synthesizer, drums and also partake in singing activities. Students form their own musical band at various levels to perform at various inter-school festivals.
Students get an exposure to appreciate every form of dance and in the Western dance classes, they get an opportunity to learn ballet, salsa, jazz, latino and hip hop. Western Dance is often combined with the eastern to create a fusion dance, which enables students to catch a glimpse of every artistic form on a single platform.


Quiz classes help to arouse the curiosity in the mind of students and help them to find out more about the world, current affairs and politics. Awareness of one's environment is the key to success in this changing environment and the quiz classes help to serve this purpose.
Visual Arts enable the learners to become visually literate and expressive at a level consistent with their intellectual, emotional and physical development. It is a medium through which a child is able to express the imagination in a tangible form, using strokes and colours and thus this activity plays an important role in a child's growth process. Students learn the nuances of still life painting, landscape, water colour, oil and acrylic. Students are also exposed to folk art forms like the Patachitra and Madhubani .


Creative Craft is an expression of the unique imagination of a child. Under this activity, children learn to make items like soft toys, chimes, cards, bags, decorative candles, table lamps etc.
Foreign language training helps children to communicate better in a globally changing environment. French and German classes are conducted regularly by professionals having experience of training students at the Alliance Francaise and Goethe Institute.


Students aspiring to acquire hands on experience in application of the various scientific concepts taught in class, can enrol in the Science Club, where they learn to make various models under the able guidance of teachers specialized in the subject. Older students have the option of learning Robotics and Aeromodelling too, for which workshops are conducted during the camps.
The art of self defense is taught by instructors skilled in taekwondo, karate and kickboxing. Courtesy, self control, perseverance, integrity and indomitable spirit are the guiding principles of this group.
Students here are strongly motivated to excel and bring glory to their school, state and country. They have won many laurels in India and abroad. Their motto - 'I shall be the champion of freedom'.
